Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing, planning, music, microphones and what you actually get when you book me. If your question isn’t here, just ask.

Booking

The stuff everybody asks first.

How does pricing work?

Simple: one flat rate that covers everything. No packages to compare, no hourly overtime and no add-on menu. DJ, emcee, ceremony sound and microphones, lighting, recordings and the audio guestbook are all part of it, and you get me for as long as your event needs me. Send me your date and I’ll give you the exact number.

If we book you, do we actually get you?

Yes. There’s no roster of DJs and I’m not sending whoever happens to be free. I’m the person you talk to while you’re planning, and I’m the person who shows up to your event.

Where do you work?

I’m based in Denver and work events across the Denver metro area. Planning something farther out? Send me the details and we’ll talk.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Popular weekends go first, and once I’m booked for a date, I’m booked. Checking costs you nothing.

Planning

How we get ready.

What does planning with you look like?

It starts with a questionnaire that covers your music, your timeline, the names I need to get right and the vibe you want. From there we check in by call and email, so by the time I walk in the room I already know your night.

Will you work with our planner and venue?

Yes. I stay in touch with your coordinator and venue team before and during the event, so the timeline stays on track and you’re not the one passing messages back and forth.

We don’t have music picked for every part of the night. Is that OK?

Totally normal. Tell me what you love and I’ll build playlists for the parts you don’t have strong feelings about, whether that’s cocktail hour, dinner or anything in between.

Music

Your night, your soundtrack.

Can we give you must-play and do-not-play lists?

Please do. Those lists set the boundaries, and I combine them with your overall taste and what’s working in the room so the music feels like you without turning into a rigid playlist.

Do you take guest requests?

Yes. Guests love being able to request songs, and every request tells me something about what the room wants. I weigh it against your preferences and the direction you gave me.

Do you actually mix live?

Yes. Once the dancing starts, I’m mixing and adjusting in real time based on the energy in the room, not hitting play on a list.

Mics, ceremony & extras

The details people forget.

Can you handle ceremony sound?

Yes. I bring the ceremony music and microphones, including a lapel mic for your officiant and a handheld for readings, so everyone can hear every word.

Do you record the ceremony and toasts?

Yes. I record the audio of your ceremony and toasts and send it to you soon after, sometimes within a few hours, so you can relive the moments you were too busy to soak in.

What’s the audio guestbook?

It’s an old-school phone your guests pick up to leave you a voice message. It’s always a hit at the party, and the messages are even better the next day.

On the mic

Hosting, not hogging.

How much do you talk on the microphone?

As much as the night needs and no more. Introductions, toasts, first dances, dinner dismissals and useful direction for your guests. The spotlight stays on you.

Can you emcee an event without DJing it?

Absolutely. Awards nights, galas, fundraisers and community events often need a host more than a DJ. Twenty-plus years on the radio means I’m comfortable with names, sponsor reads, run-of-show changes and a live microphone. More about emcee services.

Do you do events besides weddings?

Yes: birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, mitzvahs, school events, company parties and more. See private events and corporate events.

Still have a question?
